A routine early-morning patrol turned into a high-stakes arrest when New York State Police troopers encountered an armed member of an outlaw motorcycle gang on the Southern State Parkway.
According to state police, troopers stopped shortly after 2 a.m. on May 10 to check on a disabled motorcycle on the westbound shoulder near Exit 18. The operator, identified as Aaron B. Morgan, 45, of Queens, was standing beside the bike wearing a leather vest adorned with patches from the Twister Motorcycle Club — a known outlaw group — and a “1%” patch commonly associated with criminal biker gangs.
Troopers also noticed a pair of nunchucks attached to the outside of Morgan’s vest. During questioning, police said Morgan pulled a set of metal knuckles from his vest pocket, prompting troopers to quickly place him under arrest.
Morgan allegedly resisted but was subdued without injury, authorities said. A search revealed a small baggie containing a white powdery substance, and further inspection of the motorcycle led to the discovery of a loaded Smith & Wesson handgun with 15 rounds.
Morgan was transported to the State Police barracks in East Meadow, where he was processed on multiple charges. He was arraigned later that day in Nassau County Court.
Morgan faces the following charges:
● Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree (a Class C felony)
● Three counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree (a Class D felony)
● Resisting Arrest (a Class A misdemeanor)
● Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree (a Class A misdemeanor)
The investigation remains ongoing.
