The Suffolk GOP Committee recently announced the passing of Philip Byler, who was a longtime committee member. He was 74.

Byler, who lived in Huntington, passed away on April 30. In addition to his involvement with the committee, he was an attorney, serving as a partner of the New York-based law firm Nesenoff & Miltenberg, LLP. As an attorney, he had the distinct honor of representing President George W. Bush during the 2000 election lawsuits, according to the Suffolk GOP.

As a committee member, Byler served as a convention delegate to the Republican Party.

“Phil was also a strong advocate against voter fraud, educating community members about voter rights and condemning federal overreach,” said Chairman Jesse Garcia, calling Byler “a champion for Republican values.”

A memorial service was held at Central Presbyterian Church in Huntington on May 10. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made to: Central Presbyterian Church, Huntington, NY, or Huntington-Tri Village Little League in Byler’s name would be greatly appreciated by the family.

“The streets of heaven are crowded with one more Angel,” Garcia said.
