A Far Rockaway man with two outstanding bench warrants in New York City has been arrested for shoplifting, weapon and drug possession after allegedly leaving an Oceanside supermarket without paying.

On April 28 at 4:30 p.m., Brandon McFadden, 62, of 249 Beach 15th Street, entered a Stop & Shop located at 465 Atlantic Avenue and allegedly concealed various food items in a red reusable bag.  He then allegedly proceeded to leave the store without paying for the merchandise. A 69-year-old male employee approached McFadden, who then threatened him with a razor blade before fleeing the scene. A short time later, officers responded and located McFadden nearby and placed him under arrest without incident.

Subsequent to the investigation, McFadden was found to be in possession of a white powdery substance believed to be crack cocaine. He was transported to a local area hospital for evaluation and treatment.

McFadden is charged with first-degree robbery, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, second-degree menacing and petit larceny.

Further investigation revealed he has two open bench warrants from New York City.  McFadden is scheduled to be arraigned on April 29 at First District Court in Hempstead.
