Two men who were wanted by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement have been arrested for allegedly trying to steal merchandise from a Lawrence store.
On April 14, at approximately 12:46 p.m., Nassau County officers arrived at Marshall’s, located at 345 Rockaway Turnpike, for two male subjects who had allegedly hidden items and attempted to leave the store without paying. Both suspects fled the scene before police arrived.
A short while later, Carlos Luis Moreno Yepez, 22, and Gerson Josue Gimenez Torrealba, 21, were found behind 343 Rockaway Turnpike and placed into custody.
Moreno Yepez, of 50 East River Lane, New York, and Gimenez Torrealba, of 45 East River Lane, New York, were both charged with petit larceny. They were issued appearance tickets, and scheduled to return on May 9 at First District Court.
Further investigation showed that Moreno Yepez and Gimenez Torrealba had an outstanding warrant of removal pending with ICE and were placed in their custody.
