
A homeless person was arrested for burglarizing a business in Franklin Square.
On March 27 at 5:58 a.m., Nassau County officers from the Fifth Squad responded for a suspicious person on New Hyde Park Road. The victim witnessed Thomas Hayes fleeing his business yard on foot while carrying two of his leaf blowers. The victim called 911 with Hayes’ description and direction of travel.
Officers observed a male matching the description in the area and conducted a field interview stop of Hayes. After a thorough investigation, Hayes, 56, was arrested without incident. He was charged with third-degree burglary, third-degree criminal mischief and possession of burglar tools. He will be arraigned on March 28 at First District Court in Hempstead.
