
Dr. Steven Kent has officially been selected as the chief economist of The Long Island Association (LIA) Research Institute. Kent will offer essential economic and demographic insights to the regional business community and in-depth studies of problems influencing Long Island’s growth and development. In his new position, he will help inform policymakers and stakeholders about multiple indicators and tendencies affecting the business climate and sustainability of Nassau and Suffolk Counties.
Kent is currently an associate professor at the Molloy University School of Business. He has spent his career helping businesses find untapped value and spent the majority of his career at Goldman & Sachs & Co. The Wall Street Journal also recognizes Kent on eight separate occasions as the “best stock picker.” He has been cited over 100 times in media, including CNBC, The New York Times, NBC, and Newsday.
Kent earned his Ph.D from Iowa State University, where he majored in hospitality management. His MBA comes from NYU’s Stern School of Business, and he received his Bachelor of Arts in economics from Stony Brook University. He is also a chartered financial analyst.
