Suspect Also Had Suspended License, Active Reckless Driving Warrant
Suffolk County officers arrested a Farmingville man for illegal speed racing.
On March 12, at about 11:50 p.m., officers stopped a vehicle on the I-495 service road in Farmingville for speeding. Nicholas Mulligan was allegedly driving at approximately 90 miles per hour while racing another vehicle.
Mulligan, 20, also had a suspended license and an active warrant for reckless driving. He was immediately arrested and charged with engaging in an unlawful speed contest, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and the execution of the active warrant for reckless driving. Mulligan’s car was impounded for its involvement in the illegal speed race.
“Street racing is not only illegal but incredibly dangerous, putting both participants and drivers at risk,” said Suffolk County Sheriff Errol D. Toulon Jr. “Our deputies remain vigilant in stopping reckless drivers and ensuring the safety of Suffolk County’s roadways. If you engage in illegal racing, you will be caught and held accountable.”
