A man has been killed in a single-vehicle crash in Greenlawn.
On March 9 at approximately 9:35 p.m., Joseph Scappatore, 32, of Greenlawn, was driving a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado in a northwest direction on Greenlawn Road, when the vehicle left the roadway near Ducharme Lane, struck a tree, and overturned.
Scappatore was transported via Greenlawn Rescue to Stony Brook University Hospital in critical condition. He later succumbed to his injuries.
The vehicle was impounded for a safety check.
The investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to contact the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
