Americans are flocking to red states like Florida, Texas, South Carolina and Tennessee, not only because these states don’t make you pay an income tax, but also because they simply are run better than blue states.
A perfect example, as laid out by the Washington Examiner, is how two states carried out plans to construct a major new train system. In California’s case, it was the bullet train that would connect Los Angeles to San Francisco. In Florida, it was the high-speed train from Miami to Orlando.
The California project was first announced in 2008. Thirty billion dollars have already been spent and not a mile of the planned 494-mile track has been laid. The project is slated to cost another $100 billion. Many are betting it will never be completed and will remain a rail to nowhere.
Now look at Florida. Starting in 2014, the state worked with private entrepreneurs to construct 235 miles of high-speed rail connecting two of its premier cities. The first link was completed in 2018 and the remainder was finished in 2023. It’s now even looking to add another 85 miles linking Orlando to Tampa.
The blue states’ continued pandering to unions and green extremists has consequences.
