
A Central Islip man has been for multiple grand larcenies that occurred in Nassau County over a week and a half.
From February 14 to February 25, Devon D. Barrett, 33, allegedly went into nine separate lockers at different gyms which were unlocked and allegedly took the victims’ car keys out of the lockers. Barrett then allegedly used the keys to enter the victims’ cars and take various items out of them. In seven of the incidents, he allegedly used or attempted to use the victim’s credit cards at nearby locations.
The eight incidents are as follows:
- February 14 at 10:30 p.m., Planet Fitness, 1630 Merrick Road, Merrick
- February 14 at 11:30 p.m., Planet Fitness, 1630 Merrick Road, Merrick
- February 15 at 8 p.m., Planet Fitness, 40 Manetto Hill Mall, Plainview
- February 17 at 7:30 p.m., Planet Fitness, 923 Carmans Road, Massapequa
- February 18 at 10:50 a.m., Blink Fitness, 1789 Grand Avenue, Baldwin
- February 18 at 6 p.m., L.A. Fitness, 1111 Marcus Avenue, New Hyde Park
- February 21 at 6:30 p.m., Blink Fitness, 1789 Grand Avenue, Baldwin
- February 25 at 8:33 p.m., Blink Fitness, 1968 Grand Avenue, Baldwin
After an extensive investigation, arrett was arrested on March 5 at 7:50 p.m. in Brentwood and charged with eight counts of Grand Larceny 4th degree, seven counts of Identity Theft 2nd degree, and two counts of Petit Larceny. He was arraigned on March 6 at First District Court in Hempstead.
