
Nassau County officers arrested a male juvenile and a New Jersey woman for attempting to steal a vehicle in Hewlett Point.
On February 19, at approximately 6:33 a.m., police arrived at a Seawane Road home for an attempted stolen vehicle. The victim had his car running and saw an unidentified male inside the vehicle. He went outside, and the suspect allegedly left in a white Hyundai being driven by an unidentified female. The officers canvassed the area and found the car.
After conducting an investigation, the male juvenile and Melissa Maldonado, 19, of 139 West First Street, Clifton, New Jersey, were arrested without incident. Maldonado’s infant son was in the backseat of the car. The baby was not injured and was given to a family member.
Maldonado was charged with attempted grand larceny in the second degree and endangering the welfare of a child. She will be arraigned on February 20 at First District Court.
The juvenile was charged with attempted grand larceny in the second degree and will be arraigned on February 20 at the Youth Part of First District Court.
