Hempstead Man Wanted for Honduras Murder Handed over to ICE After Violating Order of Protection

A Hempstead man with an outstanding murder warrant in Honduras was handed over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) following an arrest for allegedly violating an order of protection after he was seen standing in front of the victim’s Hempstead home.

Nassau County police arrested Oscar Romero Murcia, 32, of 126 Belmont Parkway, on February 10 for allegedly violating a full stay-away Order of Protection by standing on the sidewalk outside of the victim’s residence on February 8 at 4:00 p.m.

The Order of Protection was issued following Romero Murcia’s arrest on September 26, 2024 for a robbery involving the same victim at which time he was released on $15,000 cash bail.

Romero Murcia was charged with second-degree criminal contempt. He was issued an appearance ticket and later taken into custody by Immigrations and Customs Enforcement pursuant to an active Warrant for Murder in Honduras.
