A homeless man was arrested for assaulting two officers after asking them to take him to a warming center.
On January 20 at 10:44 p.m., Nassau County Seventh Squad officers answered a welfare check. Seventh Squad Detectives reported an incident that took place between two police officers and an unhoused man, Kysaan Goff, twenty-nine years old.
According to the police, the officers answered a welfare check at 630 Old Country Road, E. Garden City. The officers met with Goff and offered him medical attention, which he denied. He asked the officers to take him to a warming center in Wantagh. As they got closer to the center, Goff became hostile. One officer sprained his right index finger.
Afterward, the police officers contained and arrested Goff after he resisted the officers and attempted to strike them. After being arrested, Goff was taken to be treated and evaluated at a local hospital.
Both officers suffered lacerations and injuries on their hands. One officer suffered a shoulder injury.
Goff is charged with two counts of assault in the second degree. He will be arraigned when medically suitable.
