
The Public Information Office reports the arrest of
A Hicksville woman for violating Leandra’s Law, in which she was driving drunk with four children ages 6 to 14 in the car.

On January 12 at 11:10 pm in Hicksville.
According to Police,
On January 12, a male victim, 34, had an argument with his wife at a restaurant located in Mineola. The argument escalated and the victim’s wife, Elizabeth Maldonado, 34, punched the victim in the face.
Maldonado left the scene in a 2022 Dodge Durango with their three children ages 6, 7, and 14, along with a fourth child, a 14-year-old male juvenile.
The victim called 911 and officers responded to their Hicksville residence to investigate the domestic incident. While at the residence, officers observed the black Durango return home with the children inside. They also noted that Maldonado was intoxicated and arrested her without incident.
Maldonado was charged with four counts of aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child passenger less than 16 years (Leandra’s Law), four counts of endangering the welfare of a child, DWI and aggravated DWI. She was scheduled to be arraigned on January 13 at First District Court in Hempstead.
