The Fifth Squad reports the arrest of an Elmont man for hitting another person in the head with a bottle and punching another person during an argument.
On December 25 at 1:25 a.m., Nassau County Fifth Squad officers responded to a residence on E Street in Elmont for a disturbance. Upon arrival, police saw Josue Fuentes Velasquez, 37, in an argument with a 25-year-old male victim. The argument escalated and Fuentes Velasquez grabbed a glass bottle and struck the victim in the back of the head, causing a contusion. A second victim, a 42-year-old male, tried to stop the fight and Fuentes Velasquez struck him in the face with a closed fist.
Fuentes Velasquez was arrested at the scene. The 25-year-old male victim was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Fuentes Velasquez was charged with second-degree assault, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and second-degree harassment. He was arraigned on December 25 at First District Court in Hempstead.
