There is speculation that Nassau County Legislator Seth Koslow may be running for county executive against Republican incumbent Bruce Blakeman, according to an anonymous source.

Long Island Life & Politics obtained a document showing that Koslow (D-Merrick) filed for the candidacy on November 14.

According to his biography on the Nassau Legislature’s website, Koslow represents the Fifth Legislative District, which entails most of Freeport and Merrick, as well as parts of North Merrick and North Bellmore. In 2023, he was elected legislator, beating out GOP opponent Joe Baker.

He served as both a prosecutor and a defense attorney, his biography states, and, in 2013, became Queens County Assistant District Attorney. Three years later, he left the Queens District Attorney’s Office to establish his own law firm, SIK Law. He is admitted to practice law with the New York State and New Jersey Bars, as well as the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York.

In addition to his law practice, he taught college courses on criminal procedure and criminal law at Briarcliffe College and volunteers his time as a youth baseball coach.

In an interview with Long Island Life & Politics, Koslow said he has not officially thrown his hat in the ring yet. “It depends on how much money I can raise and how much support I can receive,” he said. “I have to look at what my options are.”

LILP has also reached out to Blakeman’s office and is waiting to hear back.
