A Lynbrook man has been arrested for gun possession in Elmont.
On December 8 at 12:50 a.m., a Vehicle and Traffic Law stop was conducted in the vicinity of Hoeffner Avenue and Pelham Street. During an investigation, Antonio Lam, 30, of 185 Atlantic Avenue, fled the scene on foot. He was located in the vicinity of Carnegie Avenue and placed under arrest. While resisting arrest, Lam discharged a single shot from a firearm, but no one was struck. A loaded .40 caliber firearm was recovered from Lam. One detective sustained injuries resulting from the defendant violently resisting arrest. Lam was not injured.
Lam was charged with second-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment, resisting arrest, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a firearm. He was scheduled to be arraigned on December 9 at First District Court in Hempstead.
