According to Long Island Life & Politics‘ poll, former president Donald J. Trump is leading Vice President Kamala Harris by a margin of over 2-1. Trump has 65.84% of the vote, while Harris has only 29.81%. Third-party candidates received 1.86% of the vote, while 2.48% said they didn’t know who they would vote for or were not voting.
On the issues, illegal immigration was No. 1 with 30.34% of the vote, followed by crime/public safety (25.84%), and jobs/economy (23.03%). Abortion received 7.87% of the vote, followed by the environment (7.30%) and education (5.62%).
When asked about the “Equal Rights Amendment” (also known as Proposition 1), only a plurality rejected it, with 41.84% said they would not support Prop 1, while 35.71% said they would and 22.45% did not know or had no opinion.
This week’s poll asks if the Electoral College should be abolished. Of those who answered, 64.71% said yes and 35.29% said no.
