Suffolk County Police Third Squad detectives are investigating an incident in Islip in which a pedestrian was hit by a car.
Aurelio Amaya was crossing Brentwood Road at the intersection of Colorado Avenue, when he was struck by a northbound 2018 Hyundai Elantra driven by Alan Kaldawi, at approximately 9:50 p.m.
Amaya, 54, of Bay Shore, was transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of serious injuries. Kaldawi, 53, of Brentwood, was not injured.
The Hyundai was impounded for a safety check. Anyone with information on this crash is asked to call the Third Squad at 631-854-8352.
