Hempstead Man Arrested for Assault, Resisting Arrest during Traffic Stop

A Hempstead man was arrested for assault and resisting arrest during a traffic stop in Valley Stream.

On October 2, Nassau County Fifth Squad officers conducted a Vehicle and Traffic Law stop of a 2012 Dodge Challenger in the vicinity of Hook Creek Boulevard and 136th Avenue at 2:28 p.m. During the investigation, the driver, Albert Dodson, 30, of 227 Long Beach Road was operating the vehicle with a suspended license. While attempting to place Dodson under arrest, he became combative and began to resist, causing an officer to sustain injuries. The injured officer was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Dodson is charged with second-degree assault, resisting arrest, second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and many other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. He was scheduled to be arraigned on October 3 at First District Court in Hempstead.
