Homeless Woman Arrested for Assaulting Officers

Nassau County police arrested an undomiciled woman for an assault that occurred in Valley Stream.

On September 26, at 6:54 a.m., Nassau County Fifth Squad Officers responded to 24 Hour Fitness, located at 750 W Sunrise Highway, for reports of an irate woman causing a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers discovered Tasha Batson, 33, of Rosedale, who refused to leave the premises and was acting in a hostile manner. Officers made numerous attempts to assist and escort the woman from the premises, but Batson became violent and combative, biting and punching the officers.

Two officers sustained injuries during the arrest. They were transported to local area hospitals for treatment. Batson was also transported to a local area hospital.

Batson is charged with two counts of second-degree assault, two counts of resisting arrest, third-degree criminal trespass and second-degree obstructing governmental administration. She was scheduled to be arraigned on September 27 at First District Court in Hempstead.
