The Brookhaven Town Clerk’s Office has announced that it will now accept Town Board Land Use Applications digitally. With the help of the Information Technology Department, Town Clerk Kevin LaValle created a process to accept the applications by email, as well as invoice and take payments online.

Before this innovation, attorneys, engineers, and landowners traveling from Nassau, Queens, and other areas of the state had to physically drop off applications.

“My goal is to make government easier and more accessible,” LaValle said. “Giving businesspeople the ability to file online saves time, money and shows that Brookhaven Town is a place they can work with efficiently and effectively.”

In addition to reducing trips for applicants, according to LaValle, this will enable the town clerk’s office to simplify workflows, leading to shorter wait times for residents seeking other services.
