Nassau County Police arrested a Bay Shore man for aggravated driving while intoxicated in Mineola.
While on patrol, on August 11, officers observed a black 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe, driven by Carlos Palaguachi, traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes on Jericho Turnpike and conducted a Vehicle and Traffic Law Stop near the intersection of Jay Court. During the investigation, officers observed Palaguachi, 51, of 1605 North Thompson Drive, to have slightly slurred speech and the smell of alcohol emanating from his breath. Palaguachi failed a standardized field sobriety test and was placed under arrest without incident. The front seat passenger, a 13-year-old boy, was released into the custody of a family member that responded
to the scene.
Palaguachi was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated under Leandras Law, endangering the welfare of a child, two counts of driving while intoxicated and multiple vehicle and traffic Infractions. He was arraigned on August 11 at First District Court in Hempstead.
