Woman Killed in One-Car Crash on Meadowbrook Parkway

A woman was killed in a crash on the Meadowbrook State Parkway when her car went off the road and hit a tree.

On November 21 at approximately 10:30 p.m., New York State troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash that happened on the Meadowbrook State Parkway north of the Southern State Parkway, in the Town of Hempstead. Lillie Carpenter, age 80 of Roosevelt, was operating her Toyota Camry on the northbound Meadowbrook when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. Carpenter was the only person in the vehicle and the collision caused her death. The investigation revealed that speed and a wet roadway were contributing factors to the collision.

The northbound Meadowbrook was closed, and traffic was diverted onto the Southern State Parkway. All lanes have reopened.
