Trump May Be Hated in Europe, But He Got Them to Build up Their Defense

Fareed Zakaria, the CNN analyst, is a left-leaning commentator who, at times, throws out some hard truths about the left’s excesses, as when he eviscerated the Democrats’ inability to effectively manage blue cities.

But most of the time, he’s bashing President Donald Trump, and America’s role around the world. He did so again a couple of weeks ago in noting how Europe is starting to grow a spine because it is united in its opposition against Trump‘s verbose, nasty attacks on European policy.

As Zakaria preached, the CNN chyron stated: “America’s allies have had enough of Trump‘s abuse.”

But in his attempt to bash Trump, Zakaria actually wound up confirming Trump‘s effectiveness when he noted that Europeans are so angered with the president that they are seriously talking about building up their defense so they will no longer be reliant on the United States.

Isn’t that exactly what Trump was trying to get them to do in the first place? If it took Trump‘s over-the-top verbal attacks against the lazy Europeans to accomplish that goal, shouldn’t we be praising the president for actually getting the head-in-the-sand, recalcitrant leaders across the pond to finally do the right thing?

We found it interesting as well how Emmanuel Macron of France is parading around the continent puffing his chest, noting how the Europeans should no longer be reliant on America, and that they should start building up their defenses.

It’s quite the revelation that they suddenly recognize that they’ve atrophied into soft, doughy, fat guys, but we will believe their expenditures for increased armaments when we actually see them.

These European nations have become so comfortable with their welfare states and have veered so far left in their economic and cultural policies that it’s hard to fathom that they will sacrifice much capital toward rebuilding their defenses in a serious way.

But at least Trump‘s got them talking about it — something Zakaria should have recognized, but couldn’t, because of his underlying Trump Derangement Syndrome.
