If We Let China Win the AI Race, They Will Control Us
The New York State legislature just passed a resolution that would place a one-year moratorium on the creation of any artificial intelligence energy centers. The concept was applauded by numerous media outlets, including Newsday.
But hold on a minute.
The people most happy about this moratorium are the leaders in other states who will gobble up AI projects while we sleep.
But the happiest of all will be the Chinese Communist Party, which is hoping that America’s “not in my backyard” tendencies will hold us back in the world from gaining artificial intelligence superiority The Chinese are so intent on controlling the AI industry that they are actively promoting movements and protests throughout the nation on a local level to to prevent the construction of these energy sites across our nation.
The country that wins the AI race will control the world. This is a matter of national security. Do we really want to surrender this to the Chinese communists?
Sorry to tell Bernie Sanders, but we are not going to stop the advances in AI. Just because we may put roadblocks down in America. does not mean that the rest of the world will. If we create a void, China will fill it.
So if AI is going to be part of our future anyway, we in America should be the ones who control it.
