The headline on the Associated Press’ article blared out: “Pope urges migrant traffickers to repent.“ The opening sentence states: Pope Leo XIV warned human traffickers on Friday that they will face God‘s wrath for exploiting the desperation of migrants demanding they stop and repent…”
Well, Pope Leo, have you ever considered the fact that they are doing this because they make so much money off of it due to the fact that folks like you preach against cracking down on illegal immigration?
The traffickers were never as rich and powerful as during the Biden administration, when the 46th president took your advice and opened our borders for anyone who sought to come over.
When President Trump started to clamp down on the border assault, you were in the forefront bashing him, claiming he was not following God‘s will. The pope ignored the fact that the closing down of the border saved thousands of women and children from being raped and sexually exploited. It saved hundreds from dying along the arduous 1000-mile trek to America’s southern border.
And it has crippled the money-making machine that the smugglers had perfected.
Pope Leo tries to make the claim that it’s inhumane to have immigration laws (except, of course, the Vatican is allowed to police who can set up camp on its property). He demands that everyone should be welcome. It’s right out of Karl Marx’s playbook, promoting a worldwide proletariat where people can live in any country they so desire, whenever they feel like it.
The problem with this is that it eviscerates national sovereignty. Why is national sovereignty so important? It’s so that Americans can control their own destiny through the ballot box.
We don’t want to live in a country like Afghanistan, where the Taliban tells women they can’t go to school after fifth grade. We don’t want to live in a country such as China that imprisons people who want to express religious freedom.
We need national sovereignty to maintain our western values. Mass illegal immigration destroys that value system, as we’re seeing throughout Europe today.
The irony is that it is national sovereignty that protected the church when Marxism began expanding and shutting down religious freedom. It was America and the West that stood up for it.
The West can continue to be the vanguard for religious freedom, only if we maintain our national sovereignty. That means controlling who comes into a country, when, and for what reasons. It also enables us to crush the illegal smugglers that this pope, and Pope Francis before him, have enabled over all these years.
