Major League Baseball, like other major sports leagues, has made a huge mistake by wading into politics.
People go to the ballpark to get away from division and strife and want to be united by one thing: rooting for their team. They don’t want politics injected into sports.
But that’s exactly what the baseball, football and basketball leagues have done. They’re pushing their Woke agenda on the rest of us.
Remember when we had “Black Lives Matter” painted in the end zone or emblazoned on NBA uniforms? Players are being pressured into wearing rainbow uniforms or hats.
When the San Francisco Giants dedicated a game to Pride Night, they pressured their players to wear rainbow uniforms. Some objected and countered by writing Bible verses on their hats.
Actually, both are wrong. There should neither be rainbows nor Bible verses on the hats. It should simply be the logo of the San Francisco Giants.
Many conservatives lashed out that the players should be able to write the verses on their hats. We disagree. We don’t think anything should be written on the hats.
Not phrases that are pro-choice or pro-life.
Not “Free Palestine” or “Stand up for Israel.”
Not “Save Ukraine” or “Save the Whales.”
Once you go down that path, there’s no turning back.
An MLB team has the right to have a Pride Night. But we think it’s a big mistake for them to pressure your players into wearing Pride gear.
We don’t think the players should be able to put Bible verses on their hats because then it opens it up to verses from the Quran or from Das Kapital.
MLB would’ve had the right to tell players that they couldn’t place the verses on the hats. Instead, they caved to the pressure on both sides and are now going to keep doing these Pride uniforms, while allowing the players to put anything they want on the uniforms as well.
What a bad idea.
The better way to go is to just stop the politics altogether.
P.S. — As this article was going to print, we saw something even more alarming than what transpired with the San Francisco Giants. Further south in California, the Los Angeles Dodgers announced that they committed to giving $1 million to efforts to assist illegal immigrants in their quest to battle immigration enforcement.
