It sounded good when the press releases were issued years ago. Virtue-signaling environmental extremists in New York bragged about how they were saving the planet by switching to electric buses. One thing they forgot to highlight was the fact that these buses cost nearly $500,000 each. That’s three times the amount of a standard bus.
Now that the bill is coming due, the schools and their taxpayers are panicking, and the state officials are having to say, “oops.”
It’s easy to issue self-serving, grandiose press releases. It’s another thing to have to pay the bill.
