East End Officials’ Disgraceful Pandering to the Illegal Immigration Mob

We never thought we’d see the day when elected officials from Long Island would actually support harboring illegal aliens rather than working with our law enforcement personnel, but that’s exactly what’s happening now in East Hampton, where the village’s liberal Democratic board pushed through an ordinance prohibiting the village police from coordinating with federal immigration officials to rid the area of hardened illegal alien criminals.

The blood of those victimized by any criminal illegal alien in the village will be on the hands of those officials who harbored unauthorized border crossers with criminal records and protected them from being apprehended by federal enforcement officials looking to deport them.

And now we see the Democratic-controlled town board pandering to the radical illegal alien advocacy group, OLA, which the board allowed to draft the legislation to monitor federal law enforcement while handcuffing local police from assisting the feds.

For years, elected officials on both sides of the aisle have looked the other way as millions of illegal aliens cut in front of the millions of foreigners waiting online to get into the U.S. the right way.

The Republicans cherished the cheap labor for their corporate friends, and the Democrats were welcoming the illegals so that they’d be counted in the census and protect their districts from being voided in the upcoming census. Of course, the ultimate goal of the Democrats is to provide amnesty and give the illegal aliens voting rights, which Democrats believe will keep them in power for generations to come.

But the downside of ignoring the law is that our schools and emergency rooms are at capacity.

The competition that illegal aliens bring to the rental market has helped push rents to their highest levels ever.

The free healthcare now being provided to those not supposed to be here is collapsing the system. Is it any wonder why you sometimes have to wait in an emergency room for hours on end to be called upon by a doctor?

And certainly, we cannot overlook the impact that illegal aliens have on crime. There’s no question that the overwhelming majority of those coming here do so for economic reasons, not to hurt people and not to flee for asylum purposes. It’s purely to work hard and to earn money. That’s commendable, but it doesn’t excuse breaking the law, cutting in line, and taking away jobs from American citizens and pushing down American wages.

Illegal immigration advocates like to throw around the figure that aliens commit crimes at lower rates than folks born in America. But notice how they blur the distinction between legal and illegal aliens. It is ridiculous to suggest that illegal aliens are committing crimes at lower rates than other segments, and that is because there are no reliable figures coming out of these departments due to the fact that sanctuary cities have prohibited the police from providing the immigration status of those arrested.

During an investigation of who was committing crimes in New York City several years ago, investigative reporters got the total data on those actually apprehended, with police noting that three-fourths of the arrests in a midtown precinct related to those here illegally.

But really, in the end, it doesn’t matter if the crime rate amongst the illegal aliens is higher or lower than that of anyone else. The fact is that every single crime committed by an illegal alien is a crime that could’ve been prevented and should never have happened if elected officials, such as those in East Hampton, had simply worked to enforce the law, rather than protect the illegal alien criminal.

These liberal officials try to virtue signal to their leftist base by showing how tough they can be against ICE. They claim ICE is an evil, violent organization that’s breaking the law. What nonsense! ICE is enforcing the law. The ones breaking the law are the advocates who are blocking traffic and making every effort to interfere with the ability of ICE officers to do their jobs.

The violence that has erupted in Minneapolis was a result of these crazed advocates, breaking the law and impeding ICE officers. Note how you didn’t see such violence in the more conservative red states, where the elected officials on the local level are cooperating with the feds.

And now the illegal immigration lobby is pressuring the mostly Republican board in the town of Islip to deny access to the town’s shooting range to ICE officers. If these Republicans fold to this woke mob, it will not be easily forgotten by the rank-and-file Islip residents who want their officials to support law enforcement on all levels.

As to the East Hampton board, yes, you’ll get pats on the back from some of your uber-liberal constituents in town, but just wait for the day when one of your constituents comes up to you and says their child was raped or murdered by someone who could’ve been deported, but wasn’t because you harbored them.
