Remember how crime skyrocketed after COVID? It was mostly due to the policies imposed by crazy leftist Democrats and their Woke allies who made the ridiculous claim that enforcing the law was racist.
If people were shoplifting toothpaste or clothes, it wasn’t because they made a poor decision. It was because they were forced to do so due to the poverty inflicted upon them by a racist, colonialist, capitalist system. And so we had drugstores such as CVS and Walgreens locking up their toothpaste behind locked plastic encasements.
We also saw video after video in which miscreants ran into the stores with huge duffel bags, brazenly emptied the shelves and walked right past the security guards. It became so crazy that, if the security officer tried to intervene, it would be the guard who would be disciplined.
And who suffered? It was the poor people who lived in that area, that’s who. These bodegas and drug stores that were surviving on such small profits could not withstand the constant theft. So they closed their doors in these violent neighborhoods.
Meanwhile, violent crime was increasing because the criminal element realized that if nothing was happening to them when they were shoplifting or jumping the subway turnstiles, nothing would happen to them when they committed armed robbery. Consequently, murders and violent crime went through the roof.
But things started to get better recently as “defund the police” started to lose its credibility and no-bail laws were tightened up a bit. Then the murder rate really dropped precipitously when President Trump closed the border and started the deportation of hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens. The correlation on the graph is remarkable.
And yet we saw last week an Assemblywoman from New York City and a lawmaker in California calling for the decriminalization once again of shoplifting.
Just when you thought we had turned the tide against the woke crazies, they keep coming back.
Perhaps they are being emboldened by the victories of the new wave of socialists, or perhaps it’s because there’s a little pushback from the legacy media.
In the end, it’s up to the normal people in this country to vote for common sense over crazy. If we continue to reelect the same wacky woke officials who defunded the police years ago, we will be getting what we deserve.
