I was watching CBS Sunday Morning again this week hoping to see if its ultra-liberal slant would modify, now that the relatively moderate Bari Weiss has taken over the CBS News division.
Weiss, a onetime liberal herself, had been quite critical of the media in its shutting out of conservatives.
We have seen some balance starting to be injected into 60 Minutes, but nothing yet at Sunday Morning.
And based upon this week’s show, it looks like there’s still a long way to go Sunday mornings, after the show did a glowing profile of Democratic Congressman James Clyburn of South Carolina. This follows another softball piece on Democratic Senator Rafael Warnock of Georgia a few weeks before.
The only time we see a Republican highlighted on the show is when they are criticizing Trump over something.
Let’s see if some of the soft changes being made at 60 Minutes can filter down to the rest of CBS News. Time will tell.
P.S.
After I put this piece to bed, I saw a segment done by 60 Minutes on former Senator Ben Sasse of Nebraska. It was the biggest puff piece I had ever seen from them on a Republican. Perhaps it was safe for 60 Minutes to air it since Sasse has a terminal illness with less than six months to live — or that he voted to convict President Donald Trump in 2021 for the January 6 riot.
Yet Another P.S.
And just as I was patting CBS on the back for at least trying to make 60 Minutes a bit less repulsive in its anti-Republican bias, we see CBS “journalist” Nora O’Donnell interview Trump after the assasination attempt and actually read to him the manifesto from his would-be assassin wherein the attacker accuses, with absolutely zero evidence, that Trump is a pedophile. Giving credibility to such trash is what keeps the mainstream media approval ratings polling lower than pond scum.
