Soon after appearing at the Republican midterm convention in Dallas, Texas, GOP congressional candidate Mike LiPetri launched a new commercial focusing on affordability and changing the political climate.

The commercial opens with LiPetri telling people he is “fed up with career politicians” while showing a picture of Governor Kathy Hochul with his opponent, U.S. Congressman Tom Suozzi (D-Glen Cove). LiPetri said Hochul and Suozzi “sold us out and left us behind.”

LiPetri says, if elected, he will stop giving free healthcare and “free handouts” to illegal immigrants, ban congressional stock trading and make Long Island affordable. The commercial ends by telling viewers, “It’s time for a new generation of leadership.”

The candidate touched on these subjects in his convention speech. “Like most of you, I don’t come from a political family,” he said.

He mentioned how “Democrats destroyed this country” by “flooding millions of illegal aliens across our borders” while inflation shot up to 9%. He also spoke of President Donald Trump, upon returning to the White House, eliminating taxes on tips, overtime and Social Security.

“All of this translates to one thing: more money in the pockets of American families, he said, adding that New Yorkers are seeing $4,000 a year more “in their paychecks just this year, And yet, every Democrat voted against that.”

He also pointed out that the Democrats voted against banning Congress from trading stocks. As previously reported in Long Island Life & Politics, LiPetri blasted Suozzi for voting “no” on the congressional stock trading ban.

“They want the rules to help the insiders get rich, not you,” LiPetri said.

LILP reached out to the Suozzi campaign for comment, but did not hear back as of press time.
