One person was found dead inside a house in New Cassel that was on fire.
On July 24 at 7:48 p.m., Nassau County Third Precinct Officers responded to a residential fire on Arlington Street. Upon arrival, officers observed the house to be fully engulfed in flames. The Westbury Fire Department, with the assistance of several neighboring fire departments, responded and extinguished the flames.
A 74-year-old man was discovered inside the residence and pronounced dead at the scene. The Homicide Squad, Arson Bomb Squad and Nassau County Fire Marshal all responded to the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
