Suffolk County Police Arson Unit detectives are investigating a fire that occurred in Ocean Beach.

A fire broke out in a shed, next to a house located at 165 Bay Walk, on April 24 at approximately 3:30 p.m. Ocean Beach Police Department officers responded and requested assistance from the Suffolk County Police Department and local fire departments once the fire started spreading.
Officers from Marine Alpha, Juliette, Marine 1, and Marine 3 responded. Officers deployed their pump and fire hoses to douse the flames, and help prevent the fire from spreading. Aviation Section officers responded, and alerted the officers and firefighters to potential hot spots to also stop the spread.
Multiple Suffolk County Police officers were treated for smoke inhalation. No civilians were injured. The investigation is continuing, but detectives believe the cause of the fire to be non-criminal.
