Eight passengers were rescued when the boat they were on began taking on water.
According to police, on August 14 at 7 p.m., Nassau County Marine Bureau responded to a report of a 62-foot vessel with eight passengers on board in the vicinity of Success Rock in Sands Point that was taking on water. The Town of North Hempstead Bay Constables, US Coast Guard, Rye Police Department Marine Bureau and the FDNY Marine Bureau all responded to assist at the scene. All passengers were safely brought back to shore by Nassau County Marine 3.
No injuries were reported. TowBoat US responded to tow the vessel.
