Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating a firework-related incident that killed a man in Central Islip last night.
Gabriel Ruiz-Urresto was lighting a firework at a party in the backyard of his residence on July 4, when it exploded and struck him in the head at approximately 9:30 p.m.
Ruiz-Urresto, 37, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A GoFundMe page has been set up for Ruiz-Urresto’s family.
Detectives are asking anyone with information on the incident to contact the Homicide Squad at 631- 852-6392.
