Nassau County police arrested two women after they allegedly tried to leave a Manhasset department store with merchandise without paying for it.
On April 18 at 3:13 p.m., Diane Butrico and Jaclyn Grillo entered Macy’s located at 1100 Northern Boulevard. They selected various merchandise, allegedly concealed the items in a reusable bag, then attempted to leave the store without paying for the items. Asset Protection agents confronted Grillo, who then allegedly threatened and shoved an employee to the ground, causing an injury to his arm. Both defendants were placed under arrest.
Police charged Grillo, 21, of Astoria, with Robbery in the Second Degree and Assault on a Retail Worker. She will be arraigned on April 19 at First District Court in Hempstead.
Butrico, 60, also of Astoria, is charged with Criminal Facilitation in the Fourth Degree and Petit Larceny. She was issued a Desk Appearance Ticket and asked to return to First District Court on April 29.
