A Far Rockaway man was arrested for allegedly robbing a pair of teenagers of their E-Bike.
On August 29 at 9:34 p.m., two 15-year-old males were riding an E-Bike near Bayview Avenue when an unknown male subject allegedly approached them. The subject allegedly brandished a handgun and demanded the victims’ E-Bike. The victims, in fear for their lives, complied and the subject allegedly fled the scene on the E-bike. Nassau County officers from the Fourth Precinct conducted a thorough investigation and located Lavon Smith, 26, and placed him into police custody without incident. A stolen firearm was recovered.
No injuries were reported.
Police charged Smith with Robbery in the First Degree, two counts of Criminal Use of a Firearm in the First Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Fourth Degree and Menacing in the Second Degree. He is scheduled to be arraigned on August 30 at First District Court in Hempstead.
