A South Hempstead woman was arrested for allegedly assaulting another woman.
On August 30 at 4 a.m., Nassau County officers from the First Precinct responded to a South Hempstead residence for a disturbance. Carolynne Alvarez, 27, was allegedly involved in a physical altercation with a 27-year-old female. Alvarez was allegedly attempting to strike the victim with a broken glass bottle when she struck the victim’s finger, causing a minor laceration.
While attempting to place her into custody, Alvarez allegedly sprayed an unknown chemical substance into an officer’s face, causing face and eye irritation. The defendant allegedly continued to be violent and combative while resisting arrest. While walking the defendant to the ambulance, she allegedly kicked an officer in his knee, causing pain. Both officers and the defendant were transported to a local area hospital for evaluation and treatment.
Police charged Alvarez with two counts of Assault on a Police Officer, Assault in the Second Degree, Menacing in the Third Degree, Obstructing Governmental Administration in the Second Degree and Resisting Arrest. She will be arraigned on August 31 at First District Court in Hempstead.
