A Roosevelt man has been arrested on charges of gun possession in North Merrick.
Nassau County police officers from the First Squad responded to Elsie Avenue in the vicinity of Meadowbrook Road for a person impeding the flow of traffic. Upon arrival, officers located Naggie Ford, 21, of 62 Powell Street acting irrational and removed him from the roadway. Upon further investigation, the defendant was reportedly found to be possession of a loaded silver firearm and was placed under arrest without incident. He was transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation and treatment.
Police charged Ford with Criminal Possession of a Firearm and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree. He was scheduled to be arraigned on June 16 at First District Court in Hempstead.
