A suspect is in the hospital with a gunshot to the face after he allegedly ran alongside a police car with a knife.
On August 3 at 11:01 p.m., Bureau of Special Operations (BSO) officers were inside their vehicle, located on Brush Hollow Road in the vicinity of 2nd Street when Adrian Thompson, 27, of Westbury, ran towards the front passenger-side window of the police vehicle. He then started violently stabbing the window multiple times shattering the window.
The officers discharged their weapons, resulting in Thompson being struck in the jaw. Those same officers immediately began to render aid and provide lifesaving assistance.
Thompson was placed under arrest and transported to a nearby hospital where he is currently in stable condition. The investigation is ongoing.
Police charged Thompson with two counts of Menacing a Police Officer. He will have a bedside arraignment at a local area hospital on August 4.
