A Long Beach man has been arrested during a domestic incident in East Hills.
On April 25 at 5:28 p.m., Nassau County police officers responded to a Canterbury Lane residence for a 911 call. The investigation determined that Shawn Morgenroth, 43, allegedly broke into the 39-year-old female victim’s residence. Once inside, Morgenroth and the victim allegedly got into a verbal argument. The defendant allegedly used force to remove the victim’s cell phone from her hands and physically prevented her from exiting the residence. The argument reportedly escalated into a physical altercation and Morgenroth allegedly pushed the victim down the stairs, causing her to suffer physical injuries.
Officers located Morgenroth in the basement, allegedly brandishing a metal object in a threatening manner. Officers had to resort to using Tasers to place him into custody. The victim and the defendant were transported to local area hospitals for evaluation and treatment. Further investigation revealed the defendant had allegedly violated a valid Order of Protection.
Police charged Morgenroth with Burglary in the First Degree, Robbery in the Third Degree, Assault in the Second Degree, Assault in the Third Degree, Aggravated Criminal Contempt, Unlawful Imprisonment in the First Degree, Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree and two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree. He will be arraigned once he is released from the hospital.
