A Queens man who allegedly violated an order of protection was arrested for kidnapping.
On June 15 and July 7, Balraj Singh, 28, of Richmond Hill, was allegedly involved in a domestic disturbance with a 19-year-old woman. On numerous occasions the defendant allegedly made verbal and electronic threats both to the victim, placing her in fear for her life.
Singh then demanded the victim meet him at a specific location and enter his vehicle to avoid repercussions. The victim complied and the defendant allegedly proceeded to strike her numerous times in the face and then drive away, despite the victim pleading to exit his vehicle. Singh then displayed a box cutter and drove the victim to the Abbey Motor Inn, located at 317 W. Jericho Turnpike in Huntington, and refused to let her leave. The victim then dialed 911.
After an extensive investigation, the victim was located and tSingh was placed under arrest without incident. Further investigation revealed the defendant had violated a valid Order of Protection.
Nassau County police charged Singh with Kidnapping in the Second Degree, three counts of Criminal Contempt, Unlawful Imprisonment in the First Degree, three counts of Aggravated Harassment in the Second Degree, Menacing in the Second Degree and Harassment in the Second Degree. He was arraigned on July 7 in First District Court in Hempstead.
