Suffolk County police employed a drone to locate a burglary suspect in Lindenhurst, whom they later arrested.
First Precinct officers responded to a home on Richmond Avenue at 7:06 p.m. after receiving a 911 call reporting a burglary. A Drone as First Responder was deployed to search for the suspect, who fled the location before police arrived.
Utilizing information from witnesses, detectives operating the drone were able to locate the suspect and direct officers on the ground to his location. Following a short foot pursuit, the suspect, Isaias Miranda, was arrested on Kings Avenue on August 25 at 7:42 p.m.
Miranda, 26, of Lindenhurst, was charged with Burglary in the Second Degree and Possession of Burglar Tools. He was arraigned on August 25 at First District Court in Central Islip.
