Parents Arrested Following Fight at Flag Football Game

Suffolk County Police arrested two parents following a fight at a flag football game in Wyandanch. 

On May 7, a fight broke out between players from Southampton High School and Wyandanch Memorial High  School following a varsity-level game between the schools at Wyandanch High School, located at 54 South 32nd St. Two parents became involved in the fight. 

Shalaya Gatlin allegedly punched a 16-year-old girl in the chest and another 16-year-old female in the face,  and threatened a 15-year-old girl. Gatlin, 37, of Shirley, was charged with three counts of Harassment in the Second Degree and three counts of Acting in a Manner to Injure a Child.  

Jonathan Perez allegedly engaged in a physical altercation with a 16-year-old male, threatened people with a knife, and threatened to shoot up the school. Perez, 35, of Shirley, was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree, Making a Threat of Mass Harm, Menacing in the Third Degree, Harassment in the Second Degree, and Acting in a Manner to Injure a Child.  

The two will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip at a later date.  

The three victims were treated for minor injuries.
