Two Brooklyn men were arrested for allegedly possessing a firearm that was allegedly found in their car during a traffic stop in Inwood.
On August 19 at 1:03 a.m., Nassau County police officers from the Fourth Precinct were on patrol when they noticed a black 2014 Toyota Camry SE traveling southbound on the Nassau Expressway with a defective license plate lamp. Officers activated their emergency lights/sirens and conducted a Vehicle and Traffic Law (VTL) stop near the intersection of Wanser Avenue.
An investigation resulted in the recovery of an illegal loaded silver and black SCCY CPX-2 9mm handgun from inside the vehicle. The operator of the vehicle, Boubacar Sy, 41, and his passenger, Darnell Williams, 42, were both placed under arrest without further incident.
Police charged Sy with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, Criminal Possession of a Firearm and multiple VTL infractions. Williams was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, Criminal Possession of a Firearm and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree. They are scheduled to be arraigned on August 19 at First District Court in Hempstead.
