Suffolk County Police yesterday arrested an 18-year-old man and a 17-year-old male for allegedly assaulting a man in Hauppauge on Tuesday.
Keeghan Lynch, along with two 17-year-old males, allegedly approached a 73-year-old Hauppauge man who was collecting bottles in the parking lot at Bolla Market, located at 504 Route 111, on August 11 at approximately 3:40 p.m. The 17-year-old males then allegedly struck the man with a bottle, then punched and kicked him. Following the assault, they allegedly fled in a white Chevrolet Trailblazer with NY license plate MJL 2703.
The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The same Trailblazer stopped in front of 18 Lisa Court in Shirley, where one of the 17-year-old males who was involved in the previous assault in Hauppauge allegedly demanded that a 67-year-old man riding an e-scooter give it to him, at approximately 4:45 p.m. The man refused, fled, and called 911.
Following an investigation by the Fourth Squad, the 17-year-old male was arrested and charged with Attempted Robbery in the Third Degree, Assault in the Second Degree: Intent to Cause Physical Injury with Weapon/Instrument; and Assault in the Second Degree: Injure Victim 65 or Older – Defendant at Least 10 Years Younger. He is scheduled for arraignment at the Youth Part of First District Court.
Lynch was later arrested at his home in Remsenburg on August 14 at 8:37 p.m. He was charged with Assault in the Second Degree: Intent to Cause Physical Injury with Weapon/Instrument; and Assault in the Second Degree: Injure Victim 65 or Older – Defendant at Least 10 Years Younger. He is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on August 15.
The investigation is continuing. The other 17-year-old male involved in the assault in Hauppauge has been identified by police, but has not yet been apprehended. Detectives are asking anyone with information or any other victims to contact the Fourth Squad at 631-854-8552.
