Suffolk County police arrested two people after a man died during a fight in Shirley.
A resident of the home called 911 at approximately 7:30 p.m. on June 14 to report a fight that injured a man who rents a room at the location. When police arrived, they found Christopher Martin seriously injured.
Martin, 48, was transported to NYU Langone Hospital-Suffolk in Patchogue, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Following an investigation, Homicide Squad detectives arrested Korey Sammarco, 36, of Shirley, and Melissa Fawcett, 50, of Central Islip, on June 15 and charged them with Gang Assault in the First Degree.
Sammarco was held overnight at the Third Precinct and Fawcett was held overnight at the Fourth Precinct. Both are scheduled to be arraigned on June 16 at First District Court in Central Islip.
