Suffolk County Police arrested a Patchogue man for allegedly boating while intoxicated after they rescued him from a sinking vessel in the Great South Bay.
Christopher Carlson was allegedly operating a 2004 30-foot Grady-White boat in the Great South Bay off Sayville, when the boat allegedly struck an object in the water on August 25 at approximately 9:20 p.m. Carlson called 911 to report his boat was sinking.
Marine Bureau officers responded and removed Carlson, who was traveling alone, from the boat and determined he was intoxicated.
Carlson, 48, was charged with Operating a Vessel While Intoxicated and is scheduled to be arraigned today at First District Court in Central Islip.
